Book Review: Love, Creekwood

Updated: Sep 9, 2020

'Love, Creekwood', written by Becky Albertalli, follows on from the award-winning 'Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda'. All the main characters from the original are back, but now they are first years and all at different colleges, navigating friendship and romance the way the first story began - by email.

I loved the original, as well as the film adaptation. So was excited to see what would happen next to this group of friends that I had made a connection with. This is just a short novella, and I understand the decision to write it as a series of emails between the group - tying it back to the original. However, personally, I felt that something was lost not having the prose linking everything else together.

Not much really happens as you read the emails, and sometimes you get lost when the email chain ends and another starts. If you're a fan of this little universe then I'm sure you'll love it. I still enjoyed the book, but I was just looking for more. And ending of a bit of a cliff hanger was a little frustrating, as I wanted to know what happens next!

The books is available in paperback, hardback, digital and audio format.
